Honor Flight Info
It has been estimated that 1,000 World War II veterans are lost every day in the United States. Here in Siouxland we feel that we need to honor these heroes NOW. Many have never been to Washington D.C. to see their memorial...
The Siouxland Honor Flight raises money to charter an airliner to fly direct from Sioux Gateway Airport to Washington D.C. We take as many World War II veterans and guardians as we can. Once we get to Washington D.C. we'll board tour buses, visit the World War II Memorial, take a bus tour of the White House, Capitol, Navy Memorial, then on to the Iwo Jima memorial. After that we'll visit Arlington National Cemetery and the Korean and Viet Nam memorials. Back to the waiting airplane, then home to Sioux City -- all in one day.
We provide the veterans with all their meals, buses, plane tickets, the whole works. We do NOT accept any donations from World War II veterans. They travel absolutely free.
It does cost between $92,000 and $95,000 per flight, an amount not easily reached. If you'd care to donate (and you're not a WWII vet), we'd sure appreciate it!
